There is no train connection from Dubrovnik to Zagreb<\/strong>. The railway connection in Croatia stops in Split, although there were once plans for expanding it further to Dubrovnik. As the train culture in Croatia did not grow with time, the plans were cancelled until further notice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, the only railway route in South Dalmatia is Ploce \u2013 Sarajevo<\/strong>, further connecting cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The final stop in Croatia is Metkovic train station<\/strong>. Therefore, the closest train station to Dubrovnik is Ploce, about 2 hours away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taking a bus from Dubrovnik to Zagreb<\/a> is the most common way to travel this route.<\/strong> There are over 10 departures daily, including several night buses. Tickets start from \u20ac15 <\/strong>and the journey lasts approximately 10 hours. Buses depart from the main bus station in Dubrovnik<\/a>, located about 4 km from Dubrovnik Old Town. In Zagreb, buses arrive at the main bus station<\/a> which is located a 10-minute ride from the city centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fastest option is to travel from Dubrovnik to Zagreb by plane<\/strong>. There are daily direct flights provided by Croatia Airlines<\/strong>. Plane tickets cost significantly more than bus tickets, but buying a ticket in advance or on discounts can save you a lot of money. The journey lasts approximately 1 hour. Still, if you want to travel from Dubrovnik to Zagreb by train, you can travel a part of the route from Split to Zagreb by train<\/a>, but first, you need to reach Split by bus or catamaran<\/strong>. Here are both options explained:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By Bus<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

One of the options is to reach Split from Dubrovnik by bus<\/a>. There are over 20 daily departures, including several night buses. Tickets start from \u20ac13<\/strong> and the journey lasts approximately 4 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By catamaran<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Another option is to travel by catamaran from Dubrovnik to Split<\/a>. The route is seasonal with one departure per day. Tickets cost around \u20ac30<\/strong>. The catamaran drives the following route: Dubrovnik \u2013 Sobra on Island Mljet, Korcula old town \u2013 Makarska \u2013 Bol on Island Brac \u2013 Split, the journey takes approximately 5 hours. Dubrovnik ferry port is located about 4 km from the Old Town, next to the main bus station, while Split ferry port is located a few minutes from the Old Town, right next to the main bus station and train station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
