Train from Osijek to Zagreb is one of the most popular train routes as it connects two biggest inland cities in Croatia<\/strong>. The route is operated by Hrvatske \u017deljeznice with up to 3 daily departures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The train departs from Osijek Main Train Station<\/strong>, located about 5 minutes from the city centre. The train arrives at Zagreb Main Train Station<\/strong> (Zagreb Glavni Kolodvor) located in the centre of Zagreb. The train makes a stop at up to 21 more train stations between, depending on the departure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Types of trains<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The route Osijek – Zagreb is operated by 2 types of trains – fast train <\/strong>and InterCity (IC) train<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fast trains <\/strong>are 1st and 2nd class trains, there is an option of transporting a bicycle <\/strong>and the reservations are possible. There are up to 2 daily departures with this train and it makes a stop at 21 more stations. The journey takes approximately 5 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

InterCity (IC) trains <\/strong>offer 1st and 2nd class. The 1st class wagons provide more space and comfort for the passengers compared to the 2nd class. On departures where you travel with a fast train<\/strong>, the price of a single ticket for the 1st class is about 204 HRK (~\u20ac27) and for the 2nd class around 138 HRK (~\u20ac18) <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On departures where you travel with an InterCity (IC) train<\/strong>, the price of a single ticket for the 1st class is about 215 HRK (~\u20ac28) and for the 2nd class around 150 HRK (~\u20ac20). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Children between the age of 6 and 12, students and seniors have a 50% discount while youth between the age of 12 and 26 have a 30% discount.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

NOTE: <\/strong>In some cases, passengers who bought a train ticket might be transferred by bus instead<\/strong>, either some part or the entire route. This happens when a certain part of the railway on the route is under construction, which is highly influenced by the air temperature. Summer heats can cause the railway to extend which leads to malfunctions, while extremely low temperatures in winter shrink the railway which can lead to breakage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, it is good to know that taking a bus from Osijek to Zagreb<\/a> is both faster and cheaper<\/strong>. There are up to 24 daily departures<\/strong>, including the night buses. The tickets start from \u20ac9 <\/strong>and the journey takes about 4 hours. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
