Train from Serbia to Croatia is one way of travelling between these two neighbouring countries. The train route primarily connects the capital city Belgrade with the capital city Zagreb. From Zagreb, it is possible to further travel to other Croatian cities by train. The route is operated by Croatian Railways and Serbian Railways.

Belgrade – Zagreb

Train from Belgrade to Zagreb is the most popular train route from Serbia to Croatia and basically the only direct train route. There is usually one daily departure in the morning and one night departure, but the timetable tends to change from time to time.

Usually, the daily departure is a direct train that doesn’t require a train change. The route is mostly operated by InterCity (IC) trains and the overall journey takes around 7 hours.

All trains depart from Belgrade Main Train Station known as Prokop, located about 20 minutes from the city centre. All trains arrive at Zagreb Main Train Station known as Zagreb Glavni Kolodvor, located in central Zagreb.

The price of a regular one-way ticket depends on how early you book it. It is recommended that you book your train tickets in advance. If buying the ticket the day before the departure, you can expect prices starting from around €27.

However, taking a bus from Belgrade to Zagreb is a good alternative for those who would like to stick to ground transportation. The bus ride will save you both time and money. There are up to 7 daily departures, including several night buses. Tickets start from €23 and the journey takes around 5,5 hours.
