Sibenik – Split

Train from Sibenik to Split is one of the most popular train routes connecting two of the biggest Dalmatian cities. The route is operated by Hrvatske Željeznice with 8 daily departures during the weekdays and up to 4 daily departures during the weekends.

The train departs from Sibenik Main Train Station, located close to the city centre of Sibenik, right next to the ferry port. The train arrives at Split Main Train Station, located near Split Old Town, right next to the main bus station and the ferry port. The train also makes a stop at 21 more locations along the way. 

NOTE: On the route from Sibenik to Split, passengers need to change the train at Perkovic train station. The waiting time to board the second train varies between 5 to 45 minutes, depending on the departure. On a few departures the waiting time can last around 2 hours and one departure has a waiting time of 6 hours, so it is always good to check this prior to your departure. 

Types of Trains

There is only one type of trains operating the train route Sibenik – Split and that is a regular train. It is important to remember that on all departures, you change the train at Perkovic train station in order to continue to Split.

These trains are only 2nd class trains with no option of transporting vehicles and no reservations required. You still need to change the train at Perkovic train station, but the waiting time in most cases varies between 5-20 minutes. The total journey takes from 1.5 hour to 8 hours, depending on the departure and the waiting time to board the second train.  

Tickets

The price of a single ticket is about 45 HRK (~€6). 

Children between the age of 6 and 12, students and seniors have a 50% discount while youth between the age of 12 and 26 have a 30% discount.

If looking for the fastest and easiest way to travel this route, then consider taking a bus from Sibenik to Split. Tickets start from €6 and there are over 30 daily departures. The journey takes about 1.5 hour. 

NOTE: In some cases, passengers who bought a train ticket might be transferred by bus instead, either some part or the entire route. This happens when a certain part of the railway on the route is under construction, which is highly influenced by the air temperature. Summer heats can cause the railway to extend which leads to malfunctions, while extremely low temperatures in winter shrink the railway which can lead to breakage.
