Split main railway station

The first train from Budapest to Split arrived on Saturday

About 120 tourists arrived on Saturday from Budapest to Split by seasonal train, which will run on this line three times a week, until September 11th.

This is the third seasonal train line this year by which tourists from the Central European area come to Split by train.

First, on May 29, seasonal railway traffic was established on the Prague-Split line, and then on June 19, the seasonal Bratislava-Vienna-Split line was established.

The President of the Management Board of HŽ Passenger Transport, Željko Ukić, who was at the Split railway station to receive the train from Budapest, announced that a promotional railway line from Poland to Split would be organized in early September.

He expects that next year a new railway line will be established from Poland to Split, possibly to Rijeka as well.

Ukić also said that the connection of Slavonija with railway lines in the direction of Split and Rijeka is planned for next year.

Lucijana Natalija Jerković from the Croatian Tourist Board said that the trend of tourists coming by train to the Adriatic is on the rise.

She said that in previous years, Hungarians mostly came to spend the summer in the Zadar area, but the introduction of the seasonal railway line Budapest-Split will increase their arrival in the Split-Dalmatia County.
